Realtek RTL8139D nic drivers for kernel 2.6
Hi Folks,
Desperately searching for drivers for my Realtek RTL8139D for kernel 2.6 (Mandriva 2006 official).
The Realtek website goes until kernel 2.4. and Mandriva does not offer a good driver. If you know where to find the right drivers for 2.6, please let me know
Thanks in advance,
Sjonnie

you already have them on your system, infact they are probably already loaded. do an "lsmod" and look for either 8139too or rtl8139

Thank you for your reply.
Well, I've also searched with 'lsmod | grep 8139' but nothing was found.
If I try to set up a Lan connection with the Mandriva Control Center, I must manually select a driver from a list of available drivers, rtl8169 is what comes closest. But as rtl8169 is a gigabit nic, and mine is a 100Mbit, I fear that it won't match.
Pity for me...but I keep trying!

the 8139too is just about the most common generic driver in use i believe, you do have it on your system.. $100 says so!

Ok! I found something with 'locate 8139'.
But how do I get these drivers working?
Now I must provide the following options:
debug
multicast_filter_limit
media
full_duplex
This matter is quite new for me, because I am used to installers that fill in such options.
If you know what I should enter, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Sjonnie

I am surprised they aren't already installed. When you installed Mandriva there would have been an option towards the end of the installation where you could configure your network card. At that point Mandriva would have done all the work for you.
Are you sure it hasn't already been installed?

Yes I am. I am working with a brandnew motherboard.
The nic was not yet plugged in when I installed Mandriva for the first time, but it was impossible to get the onboard lan working. So afterwards the nic had to be configured manually.
The MCC installer keeps looping until I have provided the above-mentioned options.
Edit:
I have just re-installed Mandriva 2006, and in the end it crashes when I must configure my nic.
