when i was looking at make menuconfig i noticed two different Realtek 8139 ethernet drivers, one was realtek 8139 a & b and realtek 8139 c was there labeled as "EXPEREMENTAL" so it may not be compiled in on Slackware's stock kernel, you may have to rebuild your kernel if the following command does not work...

run this command as root:

/sbin/modprobe 8139too

if it does not detect your card you will have to rebuild your kernel to include it, what i would do is run make menuconfig and scroll to the bottom and load an alternate config from /boot/config which will basically build the same kernel you have now, next you will have to go to the device driver section and find your kernel module and add it...
