Question Realtek and intel Onboard ethernet ports

Hi,

I am using two ethernet ports on my system (eth0 and eth1).One is Intel Onboard and other ethernet card connected is Realtek-8139.I think the intel onboard port is considered as eth0 and other Real tek would be considered as eth1 port. But on my system it is Vice versa.Realtek is considered as eth0 and Onboard intel is considered as eth1.

Why is it so?

Ravi

If this configuration was created by an installation program, it is simply a case of which one was first located by the hardware inspection tool. You can modify the names to your own specs in the system config files, which may be in the /etc/sysconfig directory hierarchy.
