readin memory stick

hello

i have a super usb card reader (7 in 1). when i connect it (red hat 9.0), the system creates automatically the directory /mnt/memstick the same way as for the floppy disk reader. but when i make 'mount /mnt/memstick', i get the error message 'No medium found'

what should i do to read the content of the inserted memory card ?

thank you.

Try this before and after...to see the diff'' :

Code:
~$ cat /proc/partitions
if it's already mounted.

i see that the 'sda' line is changed

8 0 1048575 sda 22 66 176 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
8 0 1048575 sda 24 72 192 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
8 0 1048575 sda 28 84 224 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

each time i connect-disconnect the reader, it changes the 5th, 6th and 7th values

what does it mean ? i make 'mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /mnt/data', but the same message 'mount: No medium found'

thanks

from what I saw, there is no /dev/sda1...which might be the reason of failure...

try connect it on any windoze box and create file system on it, then re-mount on your linux box with the created filesystem.

Hope this help...

By the way, you mentioned that it automatically create a /mnt/memstick for you, seems that it should automatically mounted for you?

try this if it returned unexpected results:

Code:
~$ less /etc/mtab
