Razer Megalodon USB Headset major sound distortion
Hello, im new to Linux and all and wanted to try it out.
Haven't really got any issues except my headset.
When i go into my sound settings, it recognizes my headset as a Analog Ouput with mode: Analog surround 7.1 Output.
When i test the sound, i hear a really distorted woman.
What should i do?
if you want any logs or something, please tell me how and i will provide you with the information.
I have tried different USB connections for my headset, booting with it connected and after booting connecting.
ALl which resulted in the same result.
Please help me, i have searched other threads about this headset but i haven't found a working solution yet...

I think you have an RF interference issue then - you're probably getting RF through from a local radio station or source of EM radiation in he frequency band which fits the by-accident tuned wavelength of your headset cable...?
My dad is a radio ham, and long ago with an old computer I used to have, if he transmitted on the 40m radio band whenever I had the headset up I could hear his voice - badly distorted. His radio transmission was inducting a current in the wire of my headset which was acting like an antenna. His radio station room was about 5 meters away but he had antennas all over the house set up to transmit in the 2m, 20m and 40m radio ham bands.
Can you try a shielded USB cable for the headset?
It could also be that there is an illegal radio source somewhere close by, as usually, commercial grade computer equipment is FCC compliant and properly designed and shielded so as not to interfere with other FCC compliant gear and home electronics, and not to receive or be affected by standard FM / AM commercial radio transmissions.
Have you tried going somewhere else and starting the PC up and seeing if you still hear interference?
I've also seen this with a USB scanner in my dad's radio room - it simply did not work until we put it on a shielded USB cable - e. g. there was definite RF issues.
Is your computer / equipment new? As equipment gets old the components and shield coils may degrade, and it may start to "leak" RF at frequencies it was designed not to leak at but as it gets old these can sometimes degrade (e. g. it might also be a capacitor on the way out somewhere on your motherboard or audio hardware...)
Thanks for your reply, but i mean the built in sound test, not a radio.
Sorry if i was unclear.
I have been messing with the audio settings and it seems that when i switch from 5.1 to 7.1 back
And forth Alot the distortion sometimes goes away.
