Raspberry PI B tv tuner + svhs

hi guys,
im very tempted to buy a Pi B to use for xbmc + ftp but was wondering
ive read of some people using the Pi to record freeview but has anyone come accross a usb tv tuner that has something like svhs so i can plug the vhs recorder in to record old tapes?
Bit worried about compatability on linux.

Thanks everyone!

you can check for example openelec.tv about features and possibilities (including tv tuner and recording digitally). It also has analog output therefore you can use your vhs recorder to record old tapes.
what kind of compatibility issues did you mention?

well raspbmc is been a real pain.
Ive tried different ways of installing it NOOBS to start with as it came on the card and the windows installer from http://www.raspbmc.com/wiki/user/windows-installation/
but everytime i get it running it plays vids fine and everything else untill at some point it goes and decides to get stuck in a reboot loop.
Flips from a blue screen to yellow quarter screen and nothing else.
Ive read some posts online going back to 2012 but i cant belive this hasnt been fixed somewhere.
Any tips anyone?
Thanks
Dave

probably overclocked? overheated? Power supply is not good (strong) enough? I use openelec (with xmbc) and it works without problems.

i had the same issue with my RPi and raspbmc, but after a fresh reinstall of raspbmc the issue went away. turned out my OS had gotten a bit corrupt on my SD card. since then my RaspBMC has been very stable.

As for the TV Tuner, sorry im of no use there.

i really wish Plex would work on the RPi as id turn my NFS server into a Plex server again and use that over XBMC.

i bought a set of 2amp power supplies so i dont think its that, theres only the wireless keyboard n mouse dongle in it and the 8 gig SD card.
Ive not changed any of the default settings so unless it overclocks as default from stock?
I wouldnt think overheating would be a problem to the pi theres no heat sinks on it at all.

Imaged it from the installer on the raspbmc website the only things ive added is an extra user so i can use it as an FTP server under that. ( i just need somewhere to dump cctv images)
I was thinking of openelec but i chose raspbmc cause i didnt want to only use it for xbmc and movies. Im trying to learn more about linux and command line etc. Particularly been able to do more things with embedded linux in devices like routers

Thanks for your help:)

Me-TV and others have worked well for my USB: NTSC / ATSC / QAM HD TV receiver in Linux.

well today seems so far so good. Its up and running xbmc and ftp is ok, ill leave it on over night and see what happens.
Dont know what the difference is. Ive imaged it using the http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads link and disabled updates within xbmc.
waiting to see if its still running ok in the morning.

Thanks for your help.

just to clarify you are running RaspBMC, but dont want to use it for the XBMC movie player? If that is the case go with openlec or the official http://www.raspbian.org/ to learn more about Linux. RaspBMC is not a good distro to really learn about linux. it is highly customized to be a stand alone media player that is set it and forget it.
