ram testing
 

Heres the prob.....I bought an old pc from someone at a flea market on the cheap! It has a couple sticks of ram in it and a pretty decent Maxtor hard drive. So I popped in the drive as a secondary storage on my linux box and it works great. But I want to see if the ram modules are any good.

So I pop them in. They fit my board, but I need a piece of software that allows me to look at each individual ram module for performance.


I KNOW ABOUT THE BASH "FREE" COMMAND!!!!!!!


But free displays total ram.............I would like to look at each individual module for monitoring performance..........anyone?

Only tool I know of is called memtest. It is actually a tool that is self contained. It boots from the boot manager and runs test on the ram to see if it fails reading and writing. Don't know about showing performance. The chips should have info printed on the chips, Though most writing is cryptic to most.
