RAM discrepancy between DMIDE code and user manual

I have an Acer Aspire One AOD250-1962 which has a single RAM slot. I put a 2GB module of memory in the slot, but I'm not sure if that has maxed out the machine or not. So I used the dmidecode command to find out:
Code:
dmidecode -t 16
According to the readout, the netbook should support 4GB of RAM total. But according to the official Acer Aspire One AOD250 Specifications page the total supported memory is 2GB.

Is Acer mistaken with my particular model in their series? Or have I misread the dmidecode results incorrectly? If need be, I can include screenshots of my results in case a more experienced Linux user wants to review the command results.

Acer is probably right. Had the same problem with an old laptop of mine. I could place two memory modules of 1 gig each but the system would only see 1 gig.

besides see the following line from the dmidecode man page.

More often than not, information contained in the DMI tables is inaccurate, incomplete or simply wrong.

Thanks for your helpful reply gdejonge! I have to agree with you, after I did some investigative work of my own. I asked an Acer support agent via live chat on Acer's website, and after looking up my model's specs, confirmed that the maximum is just 2GB.

I'm marking this thread as solved.
