raid 0/fedora core4/data lost

Hello,

I have a P4 RAID 0 system (Intel chipset controller) with 2 external usb hdds. I've tried to install Linux on one external hdd and on the setup, at the "Automatically Partition" or "Disk Druid" screen, it asked me: "The partition table on device HDA was unreadable. To create a new partition, it must be initialized, causing the loss of ALL DATA on this drive. Would you like to initialize this drive?".

I thought that it asks me about one external hdd (which was unformatted) but when I pushed YES and then the same question appeared for drive HDB, I've understood that it was too late. I pushed NO and then when I restarted the system it didn't boot anymore. The external hdds weren't recognized at all.

Is there anything that I can do to recover that particular hdd ? At the boot, the Intel controller shows me "Normal" for both drives, like nothing wrong has happened.

Thanks,
Bogdan

Most likely just the partition table is wiped. Which is good... in a way.

Check out this howto, and good luck: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/doc...on-Rescue.html

I've INTENTIONALLY damaged disks and successfully recovered them through this. No guarantees, of course.
