radeonfb patch?

I have a dell inspiron 5100 notebook with a ati radeon mobility 7500

i'm interested in getting the radeonfb to work with it...there's some issue that causes the screen to blank out and hang during a boot though if i use it. i'm just using a vesafb right now but would like to switch...one time while looking around the web i saw something about a patch that supposedly fixed the problem but can't find it again (or find a patch that addresses the issue that i have at least...)

does anyone know of a patch that fixes this problem?
