Well finally! BIG Thanks RedShirt! It works! Yay!
And it only took two weeks of intensive work too!

I was lacking the POSIX shared memory system and it seems agpgart absolutely has to be compiled as a module - it can't be built into the kernel. After those corrections everything works fine with me - and glxgears has ~4500fps instead of the 350 it had in software mode .
