Question Radeon problems...

Hello

I run slackware since a while ago, though I have installed the radeondrivers from ATI's website, and have got X to start, I have not been able to get the hardware acc. to work. This is the (almost) complete story:

I installed slackware and realized that the "radeon" driver provided with X did not work for me, so, I downloaded the newest drivers from ATI's website and used rpm3tgz to convert them, since they only where could be downloaded in that format. Anyway, afther that i got X running, but after a while I understood that hardware acc where not available. When I ran fglrxconfig it created a new XF86Config file and tried to load the fglrx kernel module, but it didn't... when I try I get this message:

>modprobe fglrx
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.o: unresolved symbol kernel_flag_cacheline_Rsmp_7956468f
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.o:
Hint: You are trying to load a module without a GPL compatible license
and it has unresolved symbols. The module may be trying to access
GPLONLY symbols but the problem is more likely to be a coding or
user error. Contact the module supplier for assistance, only they
can help you.

/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.o: insmod fglrx failed

glxgears gives about 300fps, wich is not very good for a new computor I think...

I'd really appreciate some leads here...

300fps not good?? anything over 60 and you wont notice the difference as the human eye can only see at around 23 or so fps.

as far as your problem goes, i dunno. i gave up on ati+linux and bought a new nvidia card. if you are getting 300fps, u should be cool.
