Would changing it back to XFree86 3.x fix this problem?

If so how do I do this? is it an easy thing to do?

Is this fixable, or should I just give up and stick with windows?

Well good news my Radeon is working! turns out all I had to do was disconnect the TV out and It worked perfectly. 75hz and 3d Acceleration too

I have a RADEON 8500 AIW and had the same problem. I had to remove the connection to my TV as well ... Running Mandrake 9.0....

Still looking for a permanent solution...

Well it looks like I spoke too soon. I found a permanent solution by searching the old threads on this forum and finding an Option for XF86Config-4 file that works out.. It seems All-In-Wonder (AIW) card owners not using the DVI connector for an LCD/DFP need to enable the CrtScreen option.
To do this, edit the XF86Config-4 file and in the "Device" section under your monitor type: Option "CrtScreen"

Here is my XF86Config-4 file if anyone is interested. Hope this helps some1.
