Radeon 9700 Pro = game problems

I tried playing those free games that came with Mandrake 9.1. When I load the games, I have two problems that bother me:

1) the refresh rate drops to 60 Hz which hurts my eyes. Is there any way to make it stay at 85 Hz like my desktop?

2) it is REALLY REALLY REALLY slow! It's as if the game is running in software mode. I have a ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and all my games in Windows XP runs very smooth.

I saw your post on the Mandrake forum regarding the same subject. Check out my reply on this thread.
It may help.
