Before I asked my question:
I reinstalled hplip twice
I have upgraded from stable to testing
I have done several web-searches.
==============
hp-doctor seems to be Ubuntu thing.... I will install it and check it out.
Again, thank you for all the help I have been getting.

OK.....
I did a web-search on "hp-doctor".
I had a BUNCH of windows open, and I used CUPS successfully (I guessed I messed up the last time I had attempted it)
{{PS: I had a stroke in 2011, and my cognitive abilities are "broken", among other things.}}
BUT... I just got a test page from the printer.... FINALLY!!!!
OK.....
I think that since I did produce a test page, this problem has been (partially) solved.... hopefully.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER!

Good for you! Persistence pays. Keep us updated as to whether or not you've got the printer working sufficiently well.

OK.....
I was doing a web-search on "hp-doctor" and opened a BUNCH of windows and in one of those windows told me, in a round about manner, to use CUPS.
{sigh}
I had used CUPS, previously and unsuccessful. I think I had done it in the exact wrong way.... so I tried it again.
I FINALLY GOT A TEST PAGE FROM THE PRINTER.
So, the problem is (partially) solved.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER!
And have a good day!!!

However, I will not need to print anything since July, as my nephew is going in the Marines, and I know for a fact that when in Basic Training, letters from home are VERY IMPORTANT.
... just planning ahead.....

FWIW, when I recently purchased a laser printer for occasional use at home, it ended up being a Samsung/HP M2020W. Small, cheap, etc.
But from the very start I had problems getting it to work with the HPLIP drivers in my Devuan ASCII installation.
Installed/uninstalled/reinstalled HPLIP ...
It was too Windows-like for me.
Then I found CUPS: installed it and that was it, works a charm, no problems whatsoever.
Glad you got things worked out.
Cheers,
A.

Followup:
I decided to actually print an actual file. There was no printer setup in Debian Testing, so I decided to print a random file. {{it was twenty pages.... my bad}}
Well, without any printer configuration for Debian, it printed successfully.... go figure!
So, I will state without ANY reservations that my printer works PERFECTLY!!!!!
Yet again, thank you all who have helped me to actually figure this printer out for me.
You are really good guys!
