Question about touchpad replacement.
What is your opinion about replacing a failed touchpad for Acer Aspire 7715z? The touchpad manufacturer is Synaptics.
I tested the touchpad using three different working major versions of Debian all of which failed to recognize the touchpad. The failure had been sudden. Is it better to buy a new laptop instead of trying to find a replacement? |
Why not use a usb mice?
And repairing the laptop should help. |
I am using a USB mouse but a touchpad enables one to use the laptop on a sofa and even lazily in bed. A USB mouse renders the laptop as 'comfortable' as using a desktop.
In the past, I always did any computer repairs myself, including this same laptop. The current problem has more to do with obtaining a replacement touchpad, rather than the actual task of replacing it. Added Later: I found that the failure was due to boot-persistent hardware setting. |
