Qjoypad And Debian

Well, I've been searching on this forum and across the net adn still can't find anything that helps. Here's my problem, I'm trying to use qjoypad, I'm on a debian system. I have joydev loaded for a module, I can see my joypad in Control Center. I had no problem installing the debian package for qjoypad. The thing is that when I run qjoypad and right click the icon on the task bar it says,

"No joystick devices are currently available to configure. Please plug in a gaming device and select "Update Joystick Devices" from the popup menu."

The game pad I'm using is a Nyko Airflo EX, I can cat /dev/js0 and even /dev/input/js0 and get the good old gibberish that it spits out, so I know my kernel and system recognizes my pad. If any one knows how to get qjoypad working please tell me I'm ding to use it. If anyone needs to know more just let me know.
