my friend recently got a logitech pro4000 and got it working on his laptop running suse10.1 and the pwc drivers. he was able to transmit his webcam through aMsn to another windows based computer.

seeing this i went an bought one myself and have followed the exact installation steps he followed to install the thing but i still cannot get it to run in aMsn or mercury under Fedora 5. my friend also changed to FC5 2 weeks back and now he too cannot run the webcam.

any help/advice for fedora specific installation would be appreciated. we tried the pwc 1.0.12-rc1 drivers.

after a month of hair tearing i figure it out like 30 mins after making the post !!

the reason the webcam was not working i suspected was because my AMSN version is downloaded from the yum repos. so, i set out and installed amsn on FC5 from the source tarballs. after that was done, the webcam worked perfectly !!
