Put Linux Disk to Sleep from Windows?

I have a good friend running a dual-boot Ubuntu / Windows system, who is concerned about power management issues. His question is how to put his Linux drive to sleep while he's running Windows. I couldn't answer off the top of my head.

Anyone have any tips?

Thanks

Ben

One way to try and do this would be set a hard drive sleep timeout from the BIOS. Of course, this would affect all the drives, regardless of which OS was booted.
