Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

punch hole for p2p in Linksys wireless-G broadband router/firewall

First question here.

I can't use p2p when the router is connected, and my wife needs the router for her wireless laptop.

What do I need to know about the router (Linksys 2.5GHz 54g Wireless-g Broadband Router model WRT54G) to punch a hole in it for p2p when the router has to be connected?

I know how to get to Linksys at 192.168.1.1 Can I do everything there, or is there stuff to change on my machine?

Thanks

port forwarding

Configure port forwarding on the router. All settings are made through the router mgmt console.

You need to research your p2p software and determine which ports need to be opened, etc before you go about configuring the port forwarding.

You'll also want to set a static IP on your machine that you are running the p2p software on. Otherwise, port forwarding is sort of pointless to setup =)
