Only thing I can think of is pass the option ' nousb ' on the kernel line. uhci-hcd is the detection of a 1.0 - 1.1 version of a USB controller. May have issue with it. Or that kernel has an issue with it. I have seen things like that in the 2.6.8 kernels. May usb controller never would work in the entire release of 2.6.8 kernels. The 2.6.7 and 2.6.9 and greater have worked perfect since. So see if the nousb option helps.
