PS/2 to USB Adapter?

Has anyone ever used a PS/2 to USB adapter with linux? That is... use a PS/2 device with a USB port? (Not one of the little green things for USB mice on PS/2 ports). I want to hook up a barcode reader (PS/2) to a USB port (to separate its input from the standard keyboard port). I've found some of these devices online for ~$10
