PS/2 mouse gentoo

Hello There:
I have installed gentoo. I intalled X, but I can't get my mouse to work properly. When I startx, as soon as I move the mouse is goes to the left corner of the screen and gets stuck there. I have a MS intellimouse ps/2. I have run xf86config several times with different configurations and nothing, the same happened when I edited the /etc/conf.d/gpm file.
What can I do??
Thanks in adavance.
Andrés

try editing the file /etc/X11/XF86Config by hand, it has all the configurations for X, if you need help with that ask me
