Promise 20376 RAID controller and kernel 2.6
 

I am wandering if anyone had success making the promise PDC20376 controller with a SATA hard drive working under kernel 2.6. I tried under kernel 2.6.1, 2.6.1-mm4, 2.6.2-rc2 without any succes I get a VFS kernel panic saying it cannot mount root partition unknown-block(8,6). If anyone got i working could you help me selecting the right configuration options or lilo or grub boot parameters.

have you gotten any further? i'm "running" (read: "would like to run") kernel-2.6.3 and the problem remains. so the problem might hide somewhere else?!

I got it to work. It seems my problem was that had not compiled scsi disk support. Sounds lame but I strugeled with that for about 2 weeks. Good luck
