Processor Temp??

i just built my first computer and i was wondering what the processor temperture should be? it seems to be running just fine. i was just curious what is recomended and when i should start worring about the temperture.

thank you

Depends on the processor but it should not go over 40 Cel when the system is not near full load. If you are near 100% it is normall to get hotter eg 52-55 Cel. Modern cpu however have throttling and change frequency dynamically in order not to fry themselves. Make sure your kernel can hande this feature of your cpu (usually a userspace daemon is also needed. I have powernowd)

Which (brand, model) processor are you using? (Should we have to guess?)

Most processor manufacturers include a data sheet when they ship a processor, specifying operating temperature ranges and storage temperature ranges. If you've lost your sheet, look on the web site maintained by the manufacturer for the specification for your specific processor.

Intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott. There was no paper telling about the temperture?

Did you look on the Intel web site? I think you probably want to look in section 5 of this pdf file.

If that's not the correct datasheet, you should be able to locate the one you need if you look around a little.
