/proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss: Permission denied

Hello all. I have been searching for an answer for a couple of days concerning sound/ gaming problems.

I'm trying to run Teamspeak and quake3 at the same time. Now I had to enter the following line on my other distros:

$ sudo echo "quake3.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss this used to fix the problem. Now I am running Ubuntu, based on Debian and now I don't have permission? I have run it using sudo command and I still get:

bash: /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss: Permission denied

Any Ideas or suggestion?
I'm stumped, I have gone through post after post and found nothing concerning this.
Please help!!!

No one?

I was hoping to find a fix for this?

Is there a difference between using sudo and actually being logged in as root? Maybe that could be the problem?

HI

im using debian 3, and the redirection works fine using sudo

i just got a prob with it crashing when i start the game

perhaps try double checking that the files are in fact there, cos i had a prob once where they were gone, i fixed that by reinstalling ALSA

Make sure root has write permission to that file..

I've got another problem, though: i've got no /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss file to write to! Should i create it?

Thanks!

EDIT: I just found out i can't create it..!
