problems writing to the floppy drive

hi,
I've recently installed Suse 8.2. I have a weird porblem -
I cant seem to be able to copy files from other drives to my floppy drive. I get the following error message "writing to devices is not supported". the weird thing is that if I open a file from the monted floppy, change it and save it everything works ok.
The problem happens if I try to copy files from other hard drives etc.
Hope u can help me.
Thanks

T.

Have you tried to copy files via a console window with the cp command?

For help:
man cp
or
info cp

example:
cd /media/floppy ( change to floppy directory)
cp your_file /home/user/

Replace your_file with actual file name

You can always use the full path

cp /media/floppy/your_file /home/user/your_file

hi,
Indeed I was able to copy files TO the floppy drive using
the shell. But I still am not able to do so through KDE.
I keep getting a message saying "Writing to devices is not supported"
All additional help will be appreciated.
