Problems with Tv-Card (Asus Tv-Fm 7134)

Hi,

I'm trying to get my tv-card (Asus Tv-Fm 7134) running at FC6. I've kernel 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6. I'm only working for a few weeks with linux! So I just found out somethings to get this card running but I don't know what more to do.

I already edited the etc/modprobe.conf and the etc/X11/xorg.conf.

XORG.CONF:

alias char-major-81 saa7134
options saa7134 card=16 tuner=38

I installed tvtime, xawt and kdetv. None of them work correctly.

At Kdetv appears an assistent for searching the channels. I used it and it finds some channels. But after finishing the assisten or when I cancel the assistent Kdetv suddenly closes and xserver restarts! (It just shows the screen for login in to Kde.)

Tvtime starts but only shows the blue screen dispite of the fact that I chose the modus (NTSC). But when I type "tvtime-scanner" in my console it searches and finds some tv-channels and adds them to a file.

Xawtv shows some error when I'm starting it and it also doesn't allow me to find any channels.

xawtv
This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.18-1.2849.fc6)
WARNING: v4l-conf is compiled without DGA support.
WARNING: couldn't find framebuffer base address, try manual
configuration ("v4l-conf -a <addr>")

I read that the using of tv-card also depends on the graphic card (and probably the drivers). So I've the Ati-driver installed and it works.

Here's the outpost of "kudzu -c CAPTURE -p"
/sbin/kudzu -c CAPTURE -p
-
class: CAPTURE
bus: PCI
detached: 0
driver: saa7134
desc: "Philips Semiconductors SAA7134/SAA7135HL Video Broadcast Decoder"

subVendorId: 1043
subDeviceId: 4842
pciType: 1
pcidom: 0
pcibus: 1
pcidev: 8
pcifn: 0

Here's outpost of "dmesg |tail":

dmesg | tail
[fglrx] total GART = 67108864
[fglrx] free GART = 51113984
[fglrx] max single GART = 51113984
[fglrx] total LFB = 124436480
[fglrx] free LFB = 108974080
[fglrx] max single LFB = 108974080
[fglrx] total Inv = 0
[fglrx] free Inv = 0
[fglrx] max single Inv = 0
[fglrx] total TIM = 0

Anyone has some ideas what more I could do?

Thanks!

Hannes

Comment the line that has v4l in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf. This line is only for bttv based capture cards and probably the cause of your problems. To comment place # in the beginning of the line.

Only tvtime works the best with saa7134 based video capture cards and it should be used for testing. I suggest first testing the composite (RCA) or S-Video. By doing this as the first test, you will know for sure the card actually works. Not all information on the internet is correct on setting video capture cards based on saa7134. The tuner is a trial-n-error process. I suggest reading tuner.CARDLIST in the kernel documentation directory.

Do not use XawTV because it is only designed to work with bttv based capture cards.

Do not use KDEtv, it is bloated and may not work well with saa7134 based capture cards. Only tvtime works the best.
