problems with SATA HDD
hi guys,
We at our company are going to install fedor core ver 4 on SATA HDD Segate is there any know problems/issues with this and what are the drivers that are needed & how to get the best out of it.

You won't need any drivers if it's a single SATA drive. Setup is harder if you want a RAID array, but with a single drive there are no special settings.

Seagate SATA hard drives have DMA problems. If the controller is Promise or Silicon Image, the problems gets worst. I suggest using Highpoint RocketRAID 1640 or 3ware controllers. Both are reliable for SATA. SATA controllers from Intel, SIS, nVidia, ATI also have their on problems.

hi guys,
thank u for the reply, we have 2 sata HDD and abt. the controller we have not put seprate on but instead, on the intel board itself the controller was available so we are using the same, again thank u for the reply i would be of great help.
