Problems with RH8 on a Dell C400
well im sorta a newbie to linux and have a couple of problems
ive just installed red hat 8.0 on my dell C400 and am having display problems
The resolution seems to be stuck in 640 x 480 and there is a line across the screen where the display is all messed up !! the picture seems to be all muddled up!!!
ive tried changing the resolution and it saves the new settings but then when i restart it flicks back to 640x480!
help much appreciated!

Are you running an NVIDIA card? If so, search this forum for NVIDIA--all kinds of threads on how to fix this problem.
If it isn't, it would help to know what it is.

Yes, I've already been there. I've seen the "liberating the c400" page as well.
Ultimately the word is that xfree 4.3 would address the i830 issues, but I'm yet to find someone who has gone that route...
