Problems with IRQ and USB !

Hi.
I'm Chaker from Tunisia.

I have a Packard Bell laptop and have issues with linux on it.
First, I constated that USB ports does not work at all. After some Googling, I made it work with booting with the option : "acpi=off". ==> however my network card stoped working because it is configured on the irq 19 wich is inaccessible in this mode.

I have tried so many things... I don't know what to do with and I wanted to have linux on my laptop so much !!

Noticing that every thing worked perfectly on Windows, I took these snap shots :

If it is possible I would like to put the same value of the IRQ in linux as in Windows. If you have any questions about my hardware don't hesitate.

Merci et @ Bientôt.

It is difficult for us to help you without more information, but you have tried to find the answer yourself, which is good :)

First, please tell us which "Packard Bell" laptop you are using and then tell us exactly
which "linux" you have installed (Eg "ubuntu 10.04 Lucid linx", "RHEL 5", "Debian Squeeze" etc).
Linux has many more varieties than windows. (And if this was a windows forum, you'd probably remember to tell us Win98 / XP /Vista - because it does make a difference!)

Another Q: Is your network wireless, through a USB device or built-in, or wired?
It looks like you have eth0 which is probably a wired connection, but maybe you are not using that.

Welcome to LQ!

Hi.

It's a Packard Bell Easy Note R1983W.
The wireless card is built-in and I've tried these distributions : Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10, Fedora 12, Mandriva One 2010, PCLinuxOS 2009, Debian, Salix, TinyMe, etc...
Every time the same problem : with acpi=off usb and no wireless, without it wireless and no usb...

Searching Packard Bell's site for your model returned
Sorry you search for "R1983W" did not find any results.
:(

Maybe you should try some other kernel boot options.
There is a long list here
but irqfixup and irqpoll look promising.
[Edit] As do apic=verbose (And then check the boot log) noapic and nolapic
I remember the last one worked for me with a similar problem some years ago[/Edit]
