Problems while installing Linux

Hi all,

I am trying to install ubuntu higher than version 9.10 and also linux mint 10 , 11 but none of these distro is ready to get install on my computer.

After I select Install Linux Mint, the black screen appears and installation does not proceed. Error messages like unable to unmount cd/dvd rom appears.....

I am using asus p5gz-mx motherboard and intel core2 duo processor.....

Kindly help

Regards

Go to the Ubuntu site and check "minimum hardware requirements" or google it with Ubuntu and compare that to what you have on your computer.
Posting exact error messages helps.
Is your CD drive good? Can you use other CDs on it?
Did you do an md5checksum on your downloaded ubuntu iso?

Does it run as a live usb stick or live cd but just can't install?

No it does not even run using live usb.... Does the ubuntu 11.04 uses efi partition to boot....

On my system it is not running but on my friends computer which uses the same processor but Intel D945gccr motherboard, This ubuntu 11.04 runs perfectly...

The only difference that I found between these boards is the EFI booting support which is there in intel D945gccr and not in mine
