Problem with USB external drive

I i have Fedora 8 PPC with KDE on my G4 MacMini.
I have big problem with my drive because it's not showing anwyhere. It showed only on first run but after that i've never seen it again. I tried dozens of solutions from maybe 20 posts on other forums but nothing worked. I think problem can be in my ZTE MF622 modem. But i don't know how to modify script that i found on This site and added it to my /udev/rules.d folder. Or can it be soomething else?
I'm new in linux so try to use simple language. I know only simple commands..
P.S. I checked it on Windows on my friend komputer and on Mac OS X and it was working. It have problem only with linux.

Perhaps, it's something to do with ACPI,
when you boot in grub (assuming that your boot loader is grub
highlight the line with your Fedora8, type 'e' (=edit) and see if it says anything about 'acpi'
eg 'acpi=off' if it does, remove it and try to boot.

Most probably this is not the reason for it, but it's worth a try.

good luck

my loader is not GRUB... i had problem with my psp as well... i was searching for any clues how to mount them... finally i found them in /sys/bus/usb/devices/
My disk is called 1.1 and psp 1.2.4.1 ... it's not mounted but i see that linux see them and it's not putting them in mtab i fstab... Why? Anybody knows how to make it work?
The only file that contains something other than numbers is uevent and it says:

Quote:
MAJOR=189
MINOR=14
DEVTYPE=usb_device
DRIVER=usb
PHYSDEVBUS=usb
PHYSDEVDRIVER=usb
DEVICE=/proc/bus/usb/001/015
PRODUCT=4cf/8818/b007
TYPE=0/0/0
BUSNUM=001
DEVNUM=015
I checked this location under "DEVICE" but i couldn't open this file...

You'll have to wait for more experienced forum members. My suggestion was that possibly ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) which among others is also responsible for 'seeing' / mounting external USB devices. The other day my USB pen drive wouldn't mount and what turned out to be the problem was that at the boot up the option 'acpi=off' was enabled. Once I removed it everything was fine.
What boot loader are you using? I've never used PPC so actually I have no idea how different it is from i386.

Yaboot? - never heard of it I googled it and, as I suspected, it is a PPC bootloader. I've never used PPC so don't think I can help you. Hopefully, someone else will do be of more help.

it seems like a graphic driver issue

Now i know that problem lies in that script for my ZTE MF622 3G modem.
Do anybody know how i can disable it?
Now i'm on Ubuntu 7.04 and it's the only problem.
When i put script in etc/udev/rules.d/ it's blocking all my external usb storage devices. My wireless mouse and usb keyboard works fine. But my hard drive and psp is disabled and it's not showing in system. I don't want to delete/add this script and reboot each and every time i want to use HDD/Modem.
