Problem with RH8 installation
I am new to Linux, and I tried installing it on my machine which already contains WinXP.
My first problem occured during disk partitioning. Each time I would create a partition with mount point /, I would get a warning saying (as far as I remember) "The partition / does not meet requirements for the boot partition. Please make boot disks...". I got the same error no matter what I tried, so I continued with the installation anyway.
Well my first install aborted abnormally, so I tried again...and this time in the graphical install mode, my computer hung. Finally after many tries I installed Linux with minimal packages...but apparently it does not recognise my Samtron 56v monitor as it was not listed. So I chose the monitor it had found after probing - SyncMaster.
When I start Linux now, I just get a floating error message saing "Sync. value out of range"
My questions are
1) Does the warning I got over partition mean that my linux install was faulty? Is there any way to rectify this?
2) What do I do to get Redhat 8 to work with my monitor?
