problem with ps2 mouse

I have a really strange problem. I have bought a generic ps2 mouse for my laptop. The mouse works fine under windows xp. When i start my computer in linux (Suse 9.1) the mouse doesnt work.
Now! When i start my computer in windows and the restart the computer and boot linux, the mouse works fine! How can this be?. I really don't feel like booting my computer twice everytime.

Anyone have any idea?

Odd. Is this when you start X, or when the console is started. I had the same problem under SimplyMEPIS. It turned out there was some weird kernel paramater being passed by GRUB. It was lik ps2=imps.something. I don't remember exactly, but you might try using YaST2 to configure GRUB, see if there are any weird kernel parameters being passed, and remove those. Be sure to make a bootdisk first, though!

Good luck!
