Hi again,

I've bought a new SATA-to-USB external box to make sure that the problem was not on the converter box. Also, I've changed USB cable and USB port, but I still got the same issue, which indicates me that it is some kind of problem on the hard disk itself.

Yesterday I formatted it using fdisk to delete the partition and create a new one, and mkfs to make the filesystem. I normally use ext3, and that's what I've just chosen, but in the end of mkfs procedure, I got this error:

ext2fs_mkdir: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while creating root dir
There is something that I would like to outline here: why is the message coming from "ext2fs" if I chose before the ext3 filesystem? Weird..

Anyway, basically I would like to know if that message has got any special meaning. I've tried to google it, but I didn't really had any good results for now. I would say it is related to the hard disk problem...
