Question Problem with alsa - NO sound

Hi,

today I reinstalled my Slackware (and switched to Slackware64 current). I was able to fix some major problems (lilo) and some minor problems...
Nevertheless, my sound is not working. I used Google to find some fixes, without success.
I use an optical cable (SPDIF) and NO cinch.
Here are some more infos:
lspci | grep -i audio
Code:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)
aplay -l
Code:

card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

lsmod | grep snd

snd_page_alloc 7130 2 snd_pcm,snd_hda_intel
snd_timer 18582 1 snd_pcm
snd 58509 10 snd_usb_audio,snd_hwdep,snd_timer,snd_pcm,snd_rawmidi,snd_usbmidi_lib,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel,snd_seq_device,snd_hda_codec_analog
soundcore 5354 1 snd
I've also tried to create the file "/etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel.conf" with the content:
Code:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
But the most confusing thing is, when i run speaker-test I can hear the noise.

What is the make and model of your computer?

Perhaps these will help.

Hi,

thanks for the help. I'm not sure what happened or what I've done, but the sound works now

I reinstalled my OS today and now I figured out what I've done. I just added my user to the group "audio". That solved the problem. Just if someone is interested in the solution.
