Can you post some more details? what did you try? I had issues with Ac'97 drivers.

try 'man aumix'.

and 'aumix -w' for pcm volume control. 'aumix -v' for master volume control doesn't work.

I have an onboard Avance AC97. For me, upgrading from kernel 2.4.20 to 2.4.21 made it work like magic without the need to install additional drivers. I'm using the precompiled Slackware kernel, bare.i.

I'm sorry but I cannot answer your question more specifically.

I had found drivers for the AC'97 onboard card and I had installed them on Linux 8.0 but the mixer is not working and I cant make it to work. There is no mixer installed. I had found on one page what to write in the config file for the sound but that gives me many errors at the start up of the Linux. So later I deleted them and still there is no sound and no mixer for the sound. I am new in Linux and I am trying to learn a little bit for Linux. I dont know what to do now. I dont know which kernel I have.
