problem with a NIC stop working

so i started azureues to download suse, then left my house, when i got back the internet was not working. i found that the problem was in my NIC (which is a part of my motherboard). i tried restarting the computer and it still didnt work. i ended up putting a new NIC in, but after that i tried the old one, and it worked. i then took the new one out, and its working again. does anyone have any idea why this woudl be?
