Problem mounting my digital camera

Hello. I am using VidaLinux 1.2 Kernel: 2.6.12-rc3-vidalinux. I bought one of those cheap $20 keyring digital cameras and I am having trouble mounting it so that I can get the pictures onto my computer. The camera is made by Philips. When it is connected to the USB port, I get the following when I do "/sbin/lsusb":

Bus 002 Device 005: ID 093a:010e Pixart Imaging, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

If anyone could help me get my camera working with my computer, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I would like to point out that I have only been using Linux for 4 days now.

You must check to see if your camera is a mass storage device , which most are nowadays, or a TWAIN device which requires drivers. If so you may have your work cut out for you. If it's a USB mass storage device make sure
1. USB settings in BIOS are correct for your MB if it's integrated USB (enabled)
2. Try toggling OS to either PnP or non PnP in your BIOS
3. See if your USB modules are loading during boot (uhci, ohci, ehci)
4. open your running processes module and see if these are running
5. Check your /etc/fstab before and AFTER you plug in the camera

terminal
type:
su
"your password"
cd /etc
cat fstab
if it's mass storage you should have an entry referring to /dev/sda

good luck
