Problem with Usb Modem Setup


I have an extenal USB MODEM (US Robotics) on Mandake 8.2.
The Linux does not seem to see it what do I need to make the system see it ?
I am a newbie so please kep it as simple as possible.

I read something about a ACM0 etc, I went to that directory but it was not there....

Could some1 tell me if my modem is supported and what I need to do ?'
