I had the same problem in RH8 and RH9 on a desktop (I think). I found that the way to work around it was to do the text install (boot from cd and type in linux text).

Have you tried that?

Could you post a list of your hardware and what software you have running? It may be a hardware fault.

Did you download the disks or did you buy them? If they were downloads, did you check the md5sums? Other problems I overcame by burning the disks at a slower speed.

Normally, the isos will have a downloadable md5sum file - you need to download it and check it with something like md5summer. If both match then you have a good download.

I install mdk9.2 on my NCE Versa E600

I met the same problm when installing RH8 RH9

after I installed MDK9.2 problems was gone

(#I guss if is kernel? MDK9.2 seems 2.6#)

RH8 RH9 = 2.4 (I can enter single mod after I choose simple Install)

I have a Nec Versa E600 as well. All I had to do was to disable ACPI.
Append the keywords:
acpi=ht
will do.

BTW, anybody knows why I cannot find any downloads (drivers even for Win as
well as BIOS updates) for the Versa E600 ? I can't boot from my USB disk
and I wish they'd fixed the stupid ACPI....

Have nice day,

Fabrice.
