Problem Installing nVidia NV37GL [Quadro FX 330] in DELL Precision WS 370
I've a DELL Precision 370 with Redhat 4.0 installed on it. However the distribution of this RHEL doesn't contain a driver for the Graphics "nVidia NV37GL [Quadro FX 330]". So I looked on the net and found finally: "NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7667-pkg1.run".
When I installed this the driver is still not loaded (even after reboot). Now there is some configuration file "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" or "/etc/X11/XF86Config", but this has to be configured manually. I have no idea how to proceed with this. Any help with this would be very appreciated. |
this should be helpful. but im not sure nvidia supports RH4

I'm now able to load the driver (I can see it with lsmod).
However I have no idea how to get the resolution to 1280*1024. I'm able to switch only between 800*600 and 640*480. I even changed the line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf Modes "800x600" "640x480" into Modes "1280x1024" "800x600" "640x480" Even after a reboot I still can only switch between "800x600" and "640x480" Any idea how to get a higher resolution: 1280*1024 ? |
