Problem installing Geforce4 under gentoo


hi here is what i have done :

emerge nvidia-kernel
emerge nvidia-glx

in my /etc/modules.d/nvidia :

When i type "startx" at the prompt, i have a black screen for a while (about ten second) and than some random character on my screen, from that, the only thing a can do is to reboot my computer

I didn't see any GLX loading, check your x config file again for:
Section "Module"
Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension
Load "v4l" # Video for Linux
Load "extmod"
Load "type1"
Load "freetype"
Load "glx" # 3D layer Important

You might also scratch your "1280x1024" if that isn't working either, if it is working, leave it in (can you even read anything at that resolution?).
