problem installing centOS on IBM xSeries 345

Hi,

I'm trying to install CentOS on an IBM xSeries 345 from a DVD.
During the install process everything works fine until it gets to formating/file system process where it crashes and stops about 10% of the way through. The screen just stays the same.

Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?
I guess it something to do with raid or the harddisk.

Thanks in advance
Darrell

if you hit Ctrl Alt F1 to F6 at that stage you'll see the backend output screens, one will be the screen where the formatting processes itself are running, so if there's any more information to be had, it'll be there.

Hi there - try to reconfigure RAID

Try to reconfigure RAID hardware or just try to make some tests from the RAID utility level. If everyfing is OK then try to install the OS. I have had my IBM 345 xSeries server online from 1 year with RedHat on board and I can't remamber any troubles ocured while installing it. Hope u get your point - regards from Poland!

try to install the OS without the raid config. to verify if its a raid problem.

Good point tajamari - this should be the right patch to choose!
