Looked through list of previous questions concerning brother printers but didn't find anything concerning my problem. I am running Ubuntu 22.04 and am trying to install a Brother HL3040CN printer. Went to the brother web site and downloaded all necessary files and install them via command line and check to make sure they are installed. Here is the output of the check. (I think because this is my first post I can't embed screenshots)
(james@Asus:~$ dpkg -l | grep Brother
ii hl3040cncupswrapper:i386 1.1.2-1 i386 Brother CUPS Inkjet Printer Definitions
ii hl3040cnlpr:i386 1.1.2-1 i386 Brother lpr Inkjet Printer Definitions

My printer shows up in the printer settings but when I go to print a test page nothing happens. (I have a laptop that is running Windows 10 so I set the printer up in that via my ethernet switch and it works fine).
Did a search on the web about setting up printer through cups and followed there instruction.
https://www.fosslinux.com/61850/how-...-on-ubuntu.htm.
Then went back into my settings and tried to print test page, nothing happens. When I was setting up CUPS I did notice a warning come up that said the drivers for HL3040CN were to be deprecated in the next version of CUPS. Also when I go into my settings and click on printers it shows my printer Brother HL-3040CN series but the line below it says Model Brother HL-3070CW. I have tried getting in touch with Brother support and did according to what they suggested but still not printing.
Just tried going to an actual word document on my main computer (running Ubuntu 22.04)and printing it, nothing happening. The printer is set up on my network and also connected to my main computer(according to the Brother web site it's okay to run both ethernet cable and usb cable together) (in which I am running Ubuntu 22.04) through USB cable. Also tried printing off a document from my laptop (running windows 10 and printing through network via wi-fi) it worked flawlessly.
Thanks
James
