Problem Instaling my dial up modem

I have a problem installing my dial up modem it is based on conexant chip I know that because there is writing on it that says conexant
I am running fedora 3 26.9 - 1.667 core when I first put it in I got a message modem configured during the start up.
Then I stared the INTERNET connection wizard and filed up the phone user-name password I left other fields empty. Modem port in hardver devices is "modem" but when I try to activate the modem I get the message "Failed to activate error 2"
Then I looked for help in this forum I downloaded driver from linuxant website and I installed it with right click "run with install package" after that everything was the same. I still get the same message and my modem still wont work.
I am new in linux and am really starting to be disappointed (My modem wont work my printer wont work my music sounds really bad)

Thanks in advance

My regards to Linux community from Novi Sad Serbia

the thing is that this is a winmodem , so it needs certain drivers to work unfortunately you have to purchase the driver from the conexant website.

so its alot easier using an external modem instead since it doesnt need drivers and work with out any problems with linux
