Problem in configuring speed of NIC (LAN) to 1000Mbps


Assalam o Alaikum.

I want to change speed of my LAN card (NIC) to 1000 Mbps from 100 Mbps. It does not have any effect. Following are commands that i tried for it:

[root@localhost ~]# ethtool eth4
Settings for eth4:
Supported ports: [ TP ]
Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Full
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes

[root@localhost ~]# ethtool -s eth4 speed 1000 duplex full



[root@localhost ~]# ethtool eth4

After some time it again sets to 100Mbps automatically



[root@localhost ~]# ethtool eth4

My NIC or LAN card is 1Gbps. Physical connections are perfect. Any suggestion/solution?

Are you sure the other side support 1000 Mb/s ? It must be supported by both devices.

Yes, on both sides it contains 1Gps supported devices. Now it works. I don't know what was problem
