Problem detecting Lan Card

Hi all,

Well i have worked with linux and everytime i plug a new hardware and reboot , kudzu detects it, but this time kudzu is not detecting it.

It was a lan card, when kudzu first popped up i choose option three : Do nothing .. after that i tried to configure it manuully it was good..

Now i want linuz to configure it itself so that i can configure it using the GUI.. plz let me know how to scan for a new hardware after booting up.

If the card is pulled out and rebooted and then again put back kudzu should find it on the next reboot, but can it be done in windows style "Scan for new hardware" plz let me know

Thanks in advance ..

Regards

Make sure any card you might use is enable as a module when you compile your kernel. Then use something like hotplug or udev to automaticly load the correct modules at boot time.

ok..

Well i did a compile for the files given in the cd..

using make install

its creating the .o file

But that is the mannual mode for installing it.

AS it was detecting (kudzu) earlier when i plugged in the card, it is not doing now when i restart the computer.. can you please tell me abt that.

I have never used Red Hat (which Kudzu belongs to). Try using a more widley used (and better in my opinion) module loader, or posting in the Red Hat forum with a more discriptive topic. For instance "kudzu not consistantly detecting eathernet device". It's up to you, but I would bet you will get a better responce if you ask the moderator to move the thread and change the topic title.

best regards,

Have you checked the Kudzu configuration files for anything Obvious ?
