Problem detecting ide hdd at boot
basically i have 'messed' up my hdd and i have removed the partitions on both the hdd i haven't got a floppy drive, i need to wrte an mbr to the 80gb one and i want to creat an ext3 partition over both drives.the 80 and 160 is there a way of editing your partitions of the FC3 boot disk. when i insert the disk for a system install it says that there are no hdd. the drive were fine and present at boot previously, but by removing the partitions and not re-writing new ones the drives are not accesible. so i should have
ide1:hdd1 ide2:hdd2 ide3:dvd1 ide4:dvd4 i get ide1: ide2: ide3:dvd1 ide4:dvd4 this is the memory test phase of post. this happened directly after i did an untidy shutdown of FC3 |
You can download and use the "Ultimate Boot Disk" to use some disk tools that can fix the mbr. Use "System Rescue CD" or Knoppix to use qtparted to format the disk.

Knoppix would be a good place to start, boot from CD and it has a few partition tools included on it.

Thanx for the replies, i downloaded the Ultimate boot disk and i was able to bring them back within minutes
